Following the acclaimed first volume in Tadao Ando’s monograph series, Tadao Ando: The Colours of Light (1996), this new volume continues the celebrated collaboration between Ando and photographer Richard Pare.

From the Pulitzer Arts Foundation in St. Louis, Missouri, to the Bourse de Commerce in Paris, Light and Space showcases 28 contemporary projects across Japan, Germany, Mexico, South Korea, Italy, and the United States. Pare’s striking photographs—many never before published—capture Ando’s quietly powerful approach to architecture, emphasizing his masterful use of light, volume, and space.

Created in close collaboration with Ando and his studio, the book opens with a foreword by Ando and an introduction by architect Dominique Perrault. It also features four original drawings by Ando, printed on delicate tissue paper exclusively for this volume.

The Plates section combines spare layouts with immersive gatefolds, providing readers with an intimate view of Ando’s design philosophy. An appendix, printed on textured paper, offers detailed project information, including technical specifications, descriptive text, and architectural sections and plans.

Dimensions: 290mm x 250mm.
